Since MainStreet Oceanside’s first Community Mosaic Building Workshop Feb. 29, local stained glass artist and muralist Don Myers has continued to work on the third Art That Excites project, the Ocean Glass Mosaic Mural. Myers is now inviting the community back into his workshop at 1025 S. Coast Highway to help complete the mural panel in socially distanced volunteer mosaic-building sessions starting Oct. 1. Participants will need to follow COVID-19 guidelines. Make a reservation at 760-439-6200.
In addition to or as an alternative to helping assemble the glass panels, you can sponsor a fish to honor family, loved ones or accomplishments. The completed mosaic mural, along with your message, will appear in Downtown Oceanside for years to come. Measuring 16’ x 12’, the mural will be installed on the corner of Mission Avenue and Ditmar Street across from the MainStreet Oceanside Office in our Oceanside California Cultural District.
Phase one of three of the Art That Excites program will end with the installation of the mosaic mural, the final of four initial murals to help beautify downtown walls through public art. With the support of the community, MainStreet Oceanside, matching donations dollar for dollar up to $20,000, has invested over $30,000 on these three public art projects. Thank you, Oceanside, for supporting Downtown Oceanside revitalization efforts!
